On 10 December 2025, Consul General Tivadar Takács was received on a courtesy visit by Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), whom the Hungarian Head of Mission congratulated on the KDP's results in the recent Iraqi parliamentary elections.
Masoud Barzani and the Consul General reviewed regional affairs, and the diplomat raised the KDP President's attention to the Hungarian support and development programs in Kurdistan. The parties agreed that building on the good bilateral relations, cooperation should be promoted in the economic and trade sectors as well.
